V 1.5 released on 11/2007 Cab Addresses for ALL Radio Throttles. Just as a loco needs a unique address for independent control, so do all the throttles (Cabs). If you don’t change the address of a second or subsequent throttle, from the default address, you may see weird running, un-commanded or loss of control of your trains. Addresses are: ANY Plugged In Throttle - 1 to 63. Default addresses are Procab - 2 Cab04/05 with switch - 5/6 and Cab04/05 no switch - 5. Note: Any Radio throttles when plugged in, can be in this 1 to 63 range, but for radio operation, seebelow. Radio Procabs - 2 to 17. Due to memory restrictions (cache) of the RB02, only cab addresses 2 to 17 have the capability of refreshing the Procab’s display. Pre V2.0 RB02 - Do NOT use address 8 that has been confirmed to have runaways. V2.0 RB02 – Address 8 has been fixed. Radio Cab04/05/06E & P - 2 to 49. Due to the RB02 restriction, with lots of Procabs being used eg. a Club etc, use 19 to 49, otherwise they can be used in the 2 to 17 range. Cab04E has TWO throttles within the same throttle, controlled by the “Top” Switch. You need to assign two addresses for correct operation of both “throttles”. Pre V2.0 RB02 - Using cab address #49 will cause the system to lock up and no Address 18. V2.0 RB02 – Both 18 and 49 Good. RB02 Upgrade to V2.0 – Will have a “RB02” Sticker or “RB02” will be engraved, on the housing (Aussies), on the unit. If it has not been upgraded, send your RB02 to NCE to be upgraded. For Aussies send them to the Model Railroad Craftsman in Sydney. The RB02 Base Station was upgraded in September 2009. NCE started shipping V2.0 RB02s in September 2009. Problems with response, runaways, and Cab Addresses 8, 18 and 49, were fixed. Runaways when using radio have been all but eliminated. Recommended for all Radio system users. Power Cab ONLY address 2. Optional extra Procab or Cab04 MUST be set at 3. Note, while not official Cab Address 4 also works. Using the optional SB3/SB3a, the addresses must be in the range of 2 to 5. For radio operation for Pre V2.0 RB02 ENABLE the Radio Fix in the Command Station Set Up. For V2.0 RB02 DISABLE the Radio Fix. Change Cab Address Procab - HOLD down the SELECT LOCO button, while plugging the throttle into the Cab Bus. Enter the desired Cab Address. Press PROG/ESC. Cab04/05/06 – HOLD down the SELECT LOCO button, while plugging the throttle into the Cab Bus. The Cab04 enters internal “set up” program with a flashing facia LED. Press “1” for Cab Address “Set Up” with a slower flashing LED indicating it is ready to change the Cab Address. Type in your required address (see above). Press Enter, or see the Cab04E Manual Note: Entering a Cab Address of “0” will reset the Throttle to default setting that includes to the default Cab Address: Procab – 2, Cab04 – 5 and Cab04E – Address Switch Left 5 & Right 6.
