On some, but not all, DCC decoders, you will see different behavior when switching between locos depending on how you perform the task. Doing a "select loco" versus using the "recall" button may yield very different results. To avoid unexpected shutdowns when changing between locos, use the recall button instead of using the select loco button. If the recall button is not an option for you, try to resolve the decoder issue by enabling the following features in the command station. Our command stations have a function refresh option, which is off by default but can be enabled if needed.
For the new PH5 system: Press prog/esc four times to reach “set cmd station”. Press Enter. Press 2 for Locos. On the Function refresh screen, press 1 for yes to enable this feature. Turn your system off, then back on. Try all of your function buttons now. Turn your system on and off a few times to check whether the locos now remember where they left off.
