What is PWM?

 

The DCC booster output signal is (currently) universally driven by an H-Bridge circuit.  When viewed on an oscilloscope it appears as a 2x voltage with a "zero" reference at the point where the H-Bridge switches polarities. That is the zero voltage point of one half of the H-Bridge.

 

The 2.5uV/s minimum transition speed between -4 and +4 volts is to ensure the signal will be monotonic through the region that decoders will be sampling the signal
