This decoder is designed specifically to fit LifeLike HO Scale 0-8-0, GP7, GP9, GP30, GP38-2 and SD60 locomotives

Wiring problems with GP38-2:The number board lights of the GP38-2 are wired wrong and will damage the decoder if not corrected before power is applied. Remove the number board wires from the small PC board that plugs into the decoder and either wire them to the red and black (track pickup) wires or wire them to the extra function outputs of the decoder.
