Cab Selection is based on ergonomics, personal preference, and what role will the cab have. Your four options are:
1) DISPLAY: LCD, LED or no display.
a) “LCD" offers full menu navigation and information of the DCC system using simple sentences as well a full train status.
b) “LED" (Cab06) Basic engineer display with engine number and direction information.
2) SPEED CONTROL: Digital Encoder, Analog Dial Potentiometer (Pot) or Buttons.
a) Ex: Cab06 aka Cab06e This has an “Encoder" spins endlessly and allow "speed up” or “speed down" relative to current speed. Uses a Knob unless specified otherwise
b) Ex: Cab06p “Potentiometer" aka "Pot" has an analog dial with mechanical stops at 0 and full speed. A pot is like the traditional DC throttle/powerpack or a stereo volume control. Uses a Knob unless specified otherwise. No Ballistic Tracking. Easily damaged by "overcranking"
c) “Buttons" offer "speed up" and "speed down" relative to current speed.
3) MULTIPLE TRAIN CONTROL: 2 Cab with Switch, Buttons or default 1 train if nothing listed.
a) "2 Cab with Switch" allows Encoder based Cab to control two trains at once.
b) "Recall Button" allows control of 2 on up to 6 trains.
4) RADIO: The letter (R) at the end of the model number. Wireless walk-around cab control option so you do not have to "plug in” to control your train. RB02 radio base station required.
