The recall button comes set to a default of 2 locomotive slots. It can be set to any number from 1-6. Setting this to 1 recall slot effectively disables the recall button. Thus requiring the user to input a locomotive number each time a change is needed. Using 1 recall slot can be useful in situations where the recall button is inadvertently hit by the engineer while operating.
There is a known Issue with the Power Cab V1.65 software release: After you go into Program Track mode, the number of recalls is set to 1 and one or more keys are remapped A power cycle restores all to normal. remove the wall wart power from the panel, count to 3, restore power.
This button toggles between the last two to six trains addressed. RECALL allows you to keep two to six locomotives and/or consists active in the command station memory and access them in “round-robin” fashion with each press of the button. Think of RECALL as being a set of memory slots. To put a locomotive in a recall “slot”, press SELECT LOCO and enter the loco or consist to be operated. To put another locomotive in the next slot press RECALL to access the next slot. Now press SELECT LOCO and enter the second loco. When additional trains are to be added either a “slot” with “000” or an expendable loco/consist must be displayed on the screen. Whatever is on the display will be replaced with the new loco/consist.
The number of RECALLS for each cab can be changed within the “SET CAB PARAMS” menu (see PROG button description). The factory set value is two. You may also “clear out” any locomotives in the recall slots using the “SET CAB PARAMS” menu. We don’t advise using RECALL in Yard mode.
To change the number of recall slots on a Pro Cab or Power Cab: Hit Prog /esc key 6 times to get to the cab parameters menu. Hit enter twice. Then enter your desired number of recall slots. press escape to get back to the main menu.
Set Number of Recalls on a Cabo06: If your NCE DCC System allows more than two Recalls, you can adjust this number from 1 to 6. Do the following: 1) Press the Shift/Esc key three times (both of the decimal points above the 1 and 2 of the LED display will be on). 2) Press the Direction key. Enter a number, any digit from 1 to 6 is valid. The LED display will immediately return to its normal screen.

The recall button is simply a “memory function” nothing more. It remembers up to the last six numbers you entered on the keypad. So, you have to careful when using the “select loco” button and the keypad to enter a new loco number. You may inadvertently overwrite a number you want to keep in the rotating list of numbers stored in the recalled button. You may ALSO find that you accidentally enter the SAME NUMBER several times in the recall button slots also.
Example:
If LOC 1234 is ALREADY on the screen, but you then use the “enter loco” button and type in “5678” and press enter. You just put 5678 in the memory slot IN PLACE OF 1234. So now 1234 no longer exists but 5678 is in that slot instead.
