The NCE Power Cab and USB Board must be both plugged in and powered on for the PC to install the driver.

  1. If you are using a Power Cab with no booster, remove ALL the small black jumpers from the USB board.

2. Uninstall McAfee or other AV software before trying to install a driver.

3. Go to "Settings" on your Windows PC, then Windows Update. Install everything you see in all sections.  Look in the main Windows Update section, the advanced update section, the optional driver update section, and the Windows optional update sections.  Keep rebooting as required and keep checking these sections until they're all empty and up to date. Close the update windows section.

4. Right-click on your Windows start button and click on Device Manager. Look for a section labelled "Ports".

5. If you see something like this, the driver is already installed. Note the COM port number used by the USB board to configure your software.

6.  If the board shows up under "Other Devices", you will need to reboot, then check Windows Update again. If it still shows up under "Other Devices," You will need to download and manually install the Silicon Labs CP210x Device Driver.
